Link Digitization Project Job Description

 

JOB SUMMARY/ LINE OF REPORTING :   Reporting to the Team Leader, this position will contribute to the development, processing, quality control, and content management of the Edwin A. Link Digitization project; will assist in web page design, development and editing; and will prepare an official project report to be submitted to the Link Foundation. Project outcomes and the web page will be unveiled at a formal multimedia presentation to Florida Tech leadership, Link Foundation trustees, Evans Library faculty and staff, and other invited guests.

 

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Scans selected Edwin A. Link Collection materials into electronic files.
  • Keeps scanned files organized in pre-determined naming conventions.
  • Assists in collection organization, as needed.
  • Assists with collection quality control.
  • Provides ongoing bibliographic database maintenance.
  • Writes documentation as necessary.
  • Assists with web page design, development and implementation.
  • Actively participates on the Link Digitization Project Team.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

 

    Current Florida Tech student

 

Minimum Experience and Skills:

 

    Knowledge and understanding of computers and computer peripheral devices

    Ability to work independently and in a team environment

    Experience with Internet and library research

    Strong organizational and analytical skills

    Attention to detail

    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

    Ability to develop and provide demonstrations and presentations

 

Preferred Experience:

 

    Experience with Microsoft Windows applications, possibly open-source software

    Webpage (HTML, ColdFusion, apache-php-mySQL servers) skills

    Web design with Macromedia Dreamweaver

    Familiarity with OCLC cataloging system and online catalog, SIRSI preferred
