How do I find out
if the Library owns a journal I need?
Visit the A to Z journal list. On the LINK (www.lib.fit.edu), click on "A to Z Journal List" in the "Express Links" or go to "Research Resources" and then to "A to Z Journal List." Follow the instructions there.
The A to Z journal list allows you to search by journal title, browse an A to Z list of journal titles, or look in individual full-text databases. If the journal is available, the supplying database(s) and available volumes and issues will be listed after you have executed your search.
Can I search online
for journal articles and are any articles
available to read or print online?
The LINK provides access to over 85 general
and subject-specific databases and indexes.
Some databases, such as ProQuest and WilsonWeb,
provide full-text articles, while others
provide citations and abstracts only. The 360 Search allows you to search 50 of these databases at one time.
On the LINK (www.lib.fit.edu), click on "Databases/Indexes"
in the "Express Links" or point
to "Research Resources" and click
on "Databases/Indexes."
Although there are some common search strategies,
features and search techniques differ in
every database. It is important to consult
the help screens provided by most databases.
Can I access Internet
sites and electronic publications from the
LINK?
Thousands of high-quality Internet sites, evaluated
for scholarly content by the Library Staff, can be accessed through
the LINK. Included are electronic books,
electronic journals, government resources,
other library catalogs, reference sources,
and sites specific to disciplines represented
at Florida Tech.
On the LINK (www.lib.fit.edu) click on "Best
Internet Sites" in the "Express
Links" or point to "Research
Resources" and click on "Best
Internet Sites" and choose the category
of Internet sites or electronic publications
you are interested in.
How can I get reference
or research help?
On the LINK (www.lib.fit.edu) there are
numerous guides to searching the catalog,
evaluating Internet resources, strategies
for database searching, and resources by
subject or discipline. Point to "Research
Help & Instruction" and click
