Welcome to E-LEARN, the Evans Library Electronically Accessible Research Notebook. This electronic "notebook" serves as an Internet-accessible research workshop designed to acquaint students with a variety of services, sources, and systems available at the Evans Library and through the LINK, the Library Information NetworK. Each of the E-LEARN modules introduces an important research concept or information resource:

· basic search strategies for electronic resources
· identifying the scope of the research need and appropriate information sources
· important LINK features, resources, and services
· Internet information searching, evaluation, and documentation
· electronic pathfinders, called Research Guides by Subject, that serve as guides to the specialized information resources essential to each of Florida Tech's fields of study

The acquired skills and knowledge gained from completion of this Internet-accessible workshop should enable students to use information resources effectively in lifelong learning.

A grant from Florida Tech's Academic Information Technology Committee, ACITC, provided funding for the creation of this Internet-accessible research workshop. Two Library faculty members and an Information Systems student worked together during Summer Semester 2002 to create E-LEARN. For additional information or comments about E-LEARN, please contact Nancy Cook at ncook@fit.edu. Your suggestions for improvement of the workshop are appreciated.
